As the end of the school year approaches, we find ourselves in rehearsal for the final show of the 2017-2018 season, Putting It Together. This season has been an incredible ride, from holding over Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, to teaming with other non profits to make a difference in our community through the art of theatre. Each season I have been blessed to be a part of with ACT has been special, but this season in particular will always hold a special place in my heart.
We have worked hard to rebuild this theatre and what it stands for; we take pride in the work we do and in our community. This theatre has an energy about it that is indescribable and full of love and joy; for many of us, it has been a second home and housed our second family. It has been the work of many to make ACT what it is today, and I am immensely proud.
There is a song that says "every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end," and for me, that couldn't be more true. The 2018-2019 season will not only present an incredible slate of shows, as well as several new and exciting fundraiser and events, it will do so with a new Artistic Director. It was my wish to share with you when the time was right, why I have made this decision. When I started this job, I had a one year old; now I have a six year old and a three year old. Time is flying by and I don’t want to miss a moment of it. The unexpected passing of my father only reaffirmed to me the fragility of life and the speed of time when you least expect it. I will always cherish my time as Artistic Director and will take many great memories with me.
I am incredibly pleased that Brent Jenkins, long time ACT volunteer, supporter and board member, will take his place as Artistic Director for the upcoming season.
The theatre is in a wonderful place, and it is ready for a new, enthusiastic AD to see it through to the next chapters. Brent is incredibly talented, creative, loving, kind, and full of hope and dynamic new ideas. Your continued support is vital and very much appreciated. Angelo Civic Theatre will continue to thrive and create incredible theatre that enhances our community and embraces the immense talent found right here in San Angelo.
Thank you for all the support you have shown me over the past five years. We have worked hard and I hope you are proud of ACT and the gem it is in our community. I look forward to continuing to be a part of Angelo Civic Theatre as a patron and volunteer. I will see you at the opening of Putting it Together! Until then, my sweet friends…
